TESTIMONIALS
What client's are saying.

★★★★★
"John helped me see patterns I didn't even realize were there. I was always overthinking, saying yes, and trying to keep the peace. Now I can catch myself sooner and have a better sense of what I actually feel and need."
Courtney
★★★★★
"Working with John felt different from talk therapy I'd done before. We didn't just talk through everything. He helped me slow down and notice what was actually happening for me. I'm more honest with myself now, and it's changed how I show up in my relationships."
Luke
★★★★★
"I came to John feeling stuck and not really like myself. He helped me notice when I was shutting down or just pushing through. I never felt judged or rushed, and I feel more present in my life now."

Is this you?
Feeling stuck can look a few different ways.

Anxious and always on
Your mind keeps going, your body stays tense, and even when you slow down, you never fully switch off.

Everything feels like too much
Small things hit harder than you expect. Once you get overwhelmed or frustrated, it can be hard to settle again.

You barely feel anything at all
You feel numb, disconnected, or like you're just going through the motions.
From a fellow clinician
"John pays attention to what is happening beneath the surface, not just what is being said. His work is thoughtful, grounded, and deeply human."
What becomes possible
Less managing yourself. More being yourself.
You feel less on edge
The constant tension starts to quiet, and small things don't throw you as far off.
Emotions feel less overwhelming
You can feel what you feel without it taking over or shutting you down.
You feel more connected
There is less pulling away, performing, or losing yourself with the people you care about.
You feel more like yourself again
Your energy, humor, interests, and sense of what you want start to come back.
How I work
What somatic therapy actually looks like.
We'll talk about what brings you in. We'll also slow down enough to notice what happens as you talk, including tension, emotion, the urge to pull away, or the moment you go blank.
You don't have to be good at noticing what's happening inside. "I don't know, I just feel off" is a perfectly good place to begin.
Somatic therapy Body, breath, and mindful awareness.
Somatic therapy helps you notice what is happening in your body, emotions, and attention. We may track activation, shutdown, breath, tension, and the moments when you lose connection with yourself.
Gestalt therapy Present-moment, experiential work.
Gestalt therapy brings the work into the present moment. We pay attention to what gets said, what gets held back, what happens between us, and what becomes difficult to feel, need, or express.
Attachment-informed therapy How old patterns shape present ones.
Attachment-informed therapy looks at how patterns formed in relationship. We may explore how early experiences of connection, distance, safety, rejection, or emotional availability still shape the ways you reach, withdraw, please, guard, or disconnect now.
Parts Work Getting to know the parts that protect you.
Parts Work helps us listen to the parts of you that protect, please, perform, shut down, criticize, or carry shame. Instead of trying to get rid of these parts, we slow down to understand what they protect and how they shape your relationships, boundaries, and sense of self.
About
Hi, I'm John.
I’m not just trained in this work. I know it from the other side of the room.
Somatic and experiential therapy helped me stop thinking my way around my own patterns and trauma and actually start working through them. That experience shapes how I work now.
I’m not a blank-screen therapist. I ask real questions, share what I notice, laugh when something is actually funny, and occasionally swear when the moment calls for it.
Sessions are collaborative and unhurried. We’ll slow things down when it helps, and you’ll always have a say in where we go.
You don’t need a polished explanation of what’s wrong. We can start with, “I don’t know. Something just feels off.”
I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University, and I see clients in Boulder and online throughout Colorado.

Questions
Good things to know
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy is a mind-body approach. Alongside talking, we pay attention to what is happening in your body, emotions, attention, and nervous system.
That might mean noticing tension, breath, restlessness, shutdown, or the urge to pull away, and working with the experience as it happens rather than only describing it afterward.
Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?
No. Retelling the whole story is not required, and for many people it is not helpful.
We work with what shows up now, in a way your system can handle, and you decide what to say and when.
What if I cannot feel anything in my body?
That is common, and it is information rather than a problem. Numbness and disconnection are things a nervous system learns for good reason.
We start with whatever is available, including "nothing," and build from there. You do not need to be practiced at this.
How is this different from the therapy I have already done?
We still talk, and insight still matters. The difference is that we do not stop there.
If you have already spent years understanding your patterns without much changing, the missing piece is usually not more analysis. It is working with the pattern while it is happening.
Does somatic therapy work online?
Yes. Because we are working with your own experience, online sessions translate well, and many people find it easier to settle in a space that is already familiar to them.
Sessions are available in person in Boulder at 1650 38th Street, Suite 100E, and online throughout Colorado.
How long does this take?
It depends on what you are working with and what you want from therapy. Some people come for a focused stretch, others stay with longer-term work.
We talk about what you are hoping for and revisit it as we go, so the pace stays yours.
What does therapy cost?
Standard sessions are 50 to 55 minutes at $175 per session. Longer sessions and therapy intensives may be available on request.
I am a private-pay practice, which keeps your care confidential and directed entirely by what you need. If you have out-of-network benefits, your actual cost is often lower once your deductible is met.
